The GEWEX Global Land-Atmosphere System Studies Panel (GLASS) held its first Pan-GLASS Conference “Back to the Drawing Board: From Fundamentals to Improved Models of the Coupled Land-Atmosphere System” (Pan-GLASS 2026). This conference was organized and performed by the Institute of Physics and Meteorology of the University of Hohenheim in Stuttgart, Germany, and the GLASS Panel with support of the International GEWEX Project Office and took place in Stuttgart from 06-09 July 2026. The conference brought together experts on earth system and weather research, soil and vegetation processes, surface fluxes, planetary boundary layer transport processes, clouds and precipitation, and machine learning. At the conference, observationalists, theoreticians, and modelers joined to discuss the key issues of land-atmosphere science.
Here, you'll find a curated list of events lead/co-lead by iLEAPS in the past.
2026 Pan-GLASS Conference
EGU2026
iLEAPS had an excellent presence at the EGU2026 General Assembly held in Vienna from 3-8 May, 2026 with the following sessions:
AS3.28 (Urban Air Pollutants in Anthropocene: Composition, Chemistry and Health Impacts)
BG1.13 (Urban Ecosystems, human health and well-being: A way towards sustainability)
and a Townhall meeting
TM19 Climate change: What policies and actions for vulnerable and marginalised people?
SOLAS SUMMER SCHOOL 2026
iLEAPS was delighted to partner with SOLAS in supporting the 2026 SOLAS Summer School.
The Summer School welcomed an international cohort of around 60 early-career researchers. It was primarily designed for PhD students and early-stage postdoctoral researchers but was also open to applicants pursuing alternative career paths. Participants came from across the full spectrum of SOLAS science — from fundamental ocean–atmosphere interactions to applied, solution-oriented research addressing pressing societal challenges.

SRI2025
iLEAPS lead a session on "Global Plastic Waste and Microplastic Pollution: Address Transboundary challenges" at the SRI2025 congress held at Chicago, 16-19 June 2025.
iLEAPS also jointly hosted a session with Global Land Program of Future Earth on " Mapping Global Research Networks to Build Effective Knowledge-Action systems for Sustainable Futures"

iLEAPS SSC Meeting, 9-10 Bali, Indonesia
iLEAPS hosted its second Scientific Steering Committee (SSC) meeting of 2025 in a hybrid format, in conjunction with the ACAM Training School and Workshop, in Bali on 9–10 June. Representatives from IGAC, FE Taipei, SOLAS, Water Future, Singapore University, and iCACGP representatives joined us online and discussed future collaboration ideas.
